10 Extreme Airport Runways You Won't Believe Exist

5. Hechi Jinchengjiang Ahirport - Hechi, China

Opening in 2014, around 65 hilltops were required to be flattened to construct Hechi Jinchengjiang Airport.

Built approximately 2,000 metres above sea level, construction workers placed explosives into the mountains so they could create the new runway.

With only three flights an hour able to land, the airport has provided a gateway to the cities of Chongqing and Haikou.
