10 Gargantuan Things Made Solely For Killing People

2. Magnum Research BFR

Remember the movie 'Looper', where the filmmakers used a comically huge prop revolver to illustrate the insecurity of the mob thug pursuing Joseph Gordon-Levitt? No you don't, because that wasn't a prop. It was the Magnum Research BFR, a revolver that is very real and, depending on where you live, that you can buy and sleep with if you really want. The 'BFR' stands for 'Big Frame Revolver', but Magnum Research's marketing department is fully aware of what the 'F' really stands for.

For maximum gunfondling points, the BFR can be modified to accept the manfully-named .50 Beowulf rifle cartridge which was designed for 'tactical' (i.e. killing people) use and is the size of your thumb. It was marketed partly towards personnel manning vehicle checkpoints as it can happily shoot through a car. A long-barrel BFR in one of the huge rifle mega-calibres tops 17 inches in length, which is perfectly fine and not in any way an indictment of anybody's self-esteem.
