10 Greatest #SochiFails Of The 2014 Winter Olympics

8. Raise The Roof! But Watch Out For The Floor

One thing to look forward to are the wonderful, amazing, unfinished, and dangerous hotels in Sochi. Not long after the first media personnel began arriving in Sochi did the rest of the world start seeing the pictures and tweets regarding the interesting accommodations in the city. Some eye-sores such as visible construction equipment and workers in the area seem feasible but some problems the visitors faced were just bizarre. Many early arrivers reported hotels with missing lobby floors, unreliable or no electricity, doors that lead to nowhere, electrical panels in showers... you name it-Sochi had it. Hotel visitors quickly learned the rules of their stay: do not lock the door because the knob will undoubtedly fall off locking you in; do not take a shower because the electrical panel located in or directly next to the shower will give you a shockingly bad time; covet items such as light bulbs and clean towels because they can be used as collateral for underground trading to get you basic supplies; and most importantly DO NOT under any circumstances drink the water (more of which very soon). One tweet highlighted a welcoming picture of Putin that was so carefully placed in the lobby of their hotel, which also had no floor, but at least they got their priorities right.
