10 Hidden Details In Walt Disney World You Probably Didn’t Know
1. The Infamous Secret Mickeys
This is probably Disney’s worst kept secret, but there are hidden Mickys all over the Walt Disney World resort and affiliated hotels. This is any keen treasure hunters dream, with untold amounts of the little mouse’s ears hidden right within view.
Remember, if they are easy to find, they clearly aren’t part of the secret hunt - for example, your Micky waffles in the Sassagoula Floatworks do not count as hidden.
Some examples of these ingenious hiding places include one within the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster just in front of the guitar stand where an amp wire has been looped several times to create the simple three circle design. If you look at the mural of the Maharaja on the wall in the Jungle Trek, there is something strange about his earring, yes, you guessed it, it is a little golden Micky.
One of the most imaginative hiding places designed is within EPCOT’s Land of the Living, where imagineers have created a ‘fruit mould’, which is locked in place around a growing apple. This forces the fruit to take the shape of the infamous mouse, and hangs in the tree naturally - no apples were hurt in the making of this Micky.
The most interesting part of this tidbit, is that there is no master record of all the hidden Mickeys. As imagineers and designers have been sneaking the little logo into their work all over the resort, not every one has been recorded. There have been approximately 1,000 discovered to date, but this is in no way shape or form a complete list. How many can you find next time you’re in the sunshine state? And don’t worry about asking cast members for help, remember, they can’t say “I don’t know”.
