10 Hollywood Stars You Didn't Know Were Real Life Heroes

1. Arnold Schwarzenegger Anonymously Saves Swimmer On His Boogie Board

Arnold Schwarzenegger's post-political action movies have been received with something of a whimper rather than a bang. Perhaps fairly so - at 66 years old he's hardly a spring chicken, and much of the material he's been given such as The Last Stand and Escape Plan is closer to B-movie action fare rather than the epic summer blockbusters he featured in back in the glory days. But those earlier classic Arnie movies have secured his place in movie history as perhaps the greatest action hero ever to grace the silver screen €“ from Terminator and Commando through to Predator, Total Recall and True Lies, no other film star has dominated the screen quite like him. Arnie's real-life heroics came back in 2004 when he was on holiday in Hawaii €“ a distressed swimmer called out saying he was cramping up, and the muscle-bound superstar calmly pulled the man and his boogie board 100 yards back to the safety of land. Despite the media buzz at the time surrounding Arnie's alleged act of bravery, no one thought to ask the man his name, but perhaps he didn't want any fanfare which might draw attention away from the real hero of the hour. It was convenient that Access Hollywood €“ who made the incident their top news story of the day €“ just happened to have one of their hosts, Pat O'Brien, staying at the same resort, perfectly positioned for the exclusive scoop. Are you impressed with these reports of Hollywood heroics and bravery? Or could they be little more than cheap publicity stunts designed to bolster their public image?
