Reddit is the gateway to the internet it recommends interesting posts, meaning new and engaging content floats to the top and boring cat pictures drift to the bottom. This innovative website acts like a search engine in itself, directing users to all kinds of bizarre, quirky and interesting things they'd never be able to find with Google's unbiased help alone. However, Reddit is far more than just a portal to the best, weirdest and worst of the internet it has a staggering history, and it has been part of more than its fair share of wonderful stories about the innate generosity of humanity. The media may love to paint the site as a front for the hidden underworld of the internet, where hacked photographs of celebrities were uploaded and shared at a phenomenal rate; Reddit endures because it is more. It certainly has its murky areas, but it is far from being a solely negative thing on the internet. For Reddit users, interest is currency and karma is the reward: making for an engaging, rewarding experience for readers, and an irresistible, self-affirming challenge for submitters. And no matter how many hours you spent pouring over the front-page content, it's guaranteed that you don't know everything about the site that Redditors built...
