10 Most Anticipated Tech Releases Still To Come In 2015

2. Steam Machines

Valve is a company seemingly capable of doing no wrong. It brought us the Half-life series, has effectively monopolised the PC games market through its Steam gaming platform, and has managed to make Half-life 3 the most talked-about game on the internet without even hinting that it exists. The Steam Machine is Valve's attempt to make a games console that will wrench the living room out of the PS4 and Xbox One's hands, and bring the eclectic experience of PC gaming to the living room. Steam Machines will be made by various PC manufacturers, while Valve will be providing its own Linux-based SteamOS to the machines. Dell, Alienware, Asus and others will be offering their takes on the Steam Machine, ranging from console-level power to that of top-end PCs. One of the big questions that remains though, is whether developers can be bothered to port their games to the Linux-based SteamOS. Currently very few games are available for SteamOS and that needs to change if Valve wants to make an impact. All the question marks around the Steam Machine makes it one of the most exciting products still to come in 2015. Can it shake up the games console market? Will Steam Machines be able to generate the same kind of shrieking fanboyism as other consoles? It'll be tough, but if anyone can pull it off, it's Valve.
