10 Most Embarrassing Presidential Nicknames In History

4. "The Teleprompter-In-Chief" And "The Bamster" - Barack Obama

Barack Obama Teleprompter Gif Still only midway through his second term as the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama has endured a barrage of Republican attacks throughout the duration of his stay in the Oval Office. Elected as the first-ever African-American President in 2008, Obama won a second term in 2012 - and it was during his campaigns that he gained the positive nickname "No Drama Obama" for his ability to be careful, accurate and mistake-free at crucial moments. But Republican nicknames for Obama include "The Depression President" (due to the fact the economic downturn coincided with his time in office), "The Bamster" (a derogatory slang term meaning that someone is a hypocrite and a failure), as well as "The Teleprompter-in-Chief". This final embarrassing nickname is in reference to a few occasions when Obama has struggled to answer questions and give speeches without a prompter in front of him. It is a play on the presidential role as "commander-in-chief" of the US Armed Forces.
