In New York this year there has been an event labelled by many who live there 'Snowmageddon' which saw the entire city and surrounding areas come to a stand still. Cars were left abandoned on Interstates and all planes were cancelled leaving hundreds upon thousands of tourists stranded in the area. The Smithsonian Institution building, known as The Castle, which normally dominates the skyline is barely visible above and even the US federal government closed its offices in the Washington area. Emergency services continued to aid people where needed but the weather sent everything into shut down and the people of America found themselves stuck indoors for weeks on end.
