10 Reasons Why Universal's New Epic Universe Theme Park Is The Best In The World

9. A Monster Of A Ride

Epic Universe is filled with so many fun attractions but one in particular quickly became our favourite.

Dark Universe's Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment takes you on a journey into the Frankenstein manor. Here the great, great granddaughter of Henry Frankenstein, Victoria, is conducting experiments to learn how to control Universal's most recognisable monsters. Of course when she comes up against the fearsome Dracula she might have met her match.

The ride pairs new ride technology and mind-blowing animatronics to create a ride like no other. It's hard to describe just how detailed and huge these creatures are. When the the Monster and Dracula tower over you they have an ominous presence.

There is a real sense of danger as the monsters reach and grab for you, especially the Wolf Man and Mummy scenes. Similar to the Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry Ride, Monsters Unchained makes use of screen technology and physical architecture to create depth to the scenes I'd never experienced before. Yet the vehicles used within Monsters Unchained makes you feel a part of the thrilling action. You swoop and duck to avoid the Wolf Man's claws. It was a ride I felt completely immersed in from start to finish.

Being a Universal ride means that all the fun starts before you board the ride vehicle. The queue for Monsters Unchained is a sight to behold. Taking you through the manor, getting up close to Victoria's notes and a pre-show featuring magnificent animatronics. It's also where you are first introduced to Ygor, Frankenstein's assistant. Ygor  features throughout the ride and also within Dark Universe too. He's quickly become a fan favourite thanks to his fun interactions with guests.

Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment is the perfect ride for Dark Universe and might just be one of the best ever created.
