10 Reasons Why Universal's New Epic Universe Theme Park Is The Best In The World
8. How To Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk
Although I expected to enjoy all the lands of Epic Universe, there was one in particular I fell in love with. How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk was a joyous place to spend time in.
Isle of Berk is filled with colourful dragons, larger-than-life characters, a dragon soaring show and three great attractions.
The large lake in the middle of the world helps gives the illusion that you are actually on an island. Anyone who has seen the How to Train Your Dragon movies will find Isle of Berk instantly recognisable with statues and nests set on top of the rocks.
As you venture through the portal it's hard not be impressed by the expansiveness of Isle of Berk. It certainly feels like the biggest of the lands within Epic Universe. With a show and three rides it also has the most to experience.
There are plenty of characters to meet in the land too. We saw Hiccup, Astrid, Ruffnut, Tuffnut and Gobber. The human characters aren't the only ones either. There's a meet and greet with Toothless, whilst the Light Fury along with her babies make regular appearances. All adding to atmosphere that makes the land feel alive.
The rides themselves are also not to be missed. Be prepared to be soaked on The Fyre Drill water ride. Dragon Rally Racers acrobatic attraction allows riders to choose how thrilling their ride will be. Yet the jewel in the crown is Hiccup's Wing Gliders.
The thrilling coaster is reminiscent of Hagrid's Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure, telling a story as you soar through Berk. Someone in our group commented that you almost feel like you are gliding and we would agree. With the coaster's smooth turns and the music from the movies in your ear, it's hard not to imagine you are riding a dragon over Berk. It was a ride we wanted to experience over and over again.
Overall, How To Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk is the best kept secret this side of anywhere and we encourage you to spend as much time here as you possibly can.
