10 Stupid Internet Hoaxes That People Actually Believed

3. Hunting Naked Women In Las Vegas

There was a healthy dose of hysteria and anger, after a website appeared in 2003 that offered a very unique Las Vegas experience. Sin City might not be known for its restraint, but €˜Hunting for Bambi€™ was a step above the usual gambling and alcohol. The site offered hunters the opportunity to come to Vegas and hunt down naked women using paintball guns, at the low, low price of $10,000. A local news reporter decided to investigate the site, and was shown a (completely staged) hunt. The story was published, and headlines of businessmen hunting naked women in Las Vegas became rampant. Eventually, the mayor of the city made an announcement that he wouldn€™t stand for such activities, and the owner of the site was faced with prosecution. It was only then that the genius mastermind behind the idea revealed that it was a hoax from the start, leaving behind a lot of red faces.
