10 Technology 'Advances' That Actually Made Life More Annoying
8. Windows 8
Microsoft have a habit of releasing operating systems too early, with the standard trope of one being a dud every other year. It happened when they swapped from the hugely successful XP to the shambles that was Vista, and then somehow recovered everything with Windows 7. Everyone on the whole loves Windows 7, and then as per usual Microsoft threw all their good ideas away and release Windows 8 that little bit too early. Windows 8 changed the blueprint to the OS again, moving everything about and hiding useful tools you'd just gotten used to in some random folder in your C drive. Windows 8 was meant to bring the touchscreen revolution to everyone, but instead tripped on the door frame and fell flat on its face. Desktop users felt alienated by the 'advances' Microsoft had made with the layout and the main home screen being completely against what they wanted. Like with any OS, Microsoft released patches and fixes to try and repair the damage, but was it enough? A survey of global operating systems being used showed that more people were still using XP than Windows 8, proving this advance in technology put people off. Hopefully as with Microsoft's cycle of good and bad operating systems, Windows 9 (codenamed Threshold) will be the saviour of the company once more.
