10 Things You Won’t Believe Were Sold On eBay

1. Entire Life

Sick of your life? Why not buy a new one? Or do exactly what Ian Usher did: stick it on eBay and go on an adventure. What happens when you buy someone's ENTIRE life? Do you get a receipt? Can you take it back if you don't like it? In the past I've bought the odd book on Amazon whilst drunk, and thought why oh why when it's arrived through the letterbox. Now imagine waking up to an email confirming a PayPal payment on someone else's whole world. Heavy. In July 2008, Ian Usher, a British man living in Perth, made international news when he put his entire life for sale on eBay. Heartbroken after up his wife left him, he wrote in his auction description: 'I have had enough of my life! I don't want it anymore! You can have it if you like!' The package, including his house, job, car, motorbike and even an introduction to his friends, sold for £192,000, and Ian set off around the world to live out 100 goals in 100 weeks. The 48-year-old ticked off a list of dreams: running with bulls in Spain, skydiving nude (not a good image), meeting Richard Branson, cave diving with sharks in South Africa, learning French, joining the 'mile high' club (did he skydive nude before or after this one?), getting himself a six pack, riding the wall of death and nabbing a role in a Hollywood movie. The dude is a machine. Since selling his life on eBay, Usher has published a book "A Life Sold", raised $10,000 for charity and fallen in love again. The last of his money was spent on a 2.2 acre island in the Bocas Del Toro off the coast of Panama, where he has built a house. Still not content, he is selling his little Caribbean island now too, and for £160, 000 you can have his new place in paradise. He told the Daily Mail: 'It's a beautiful place, but the traveller's itchy feet are starting to tickle again. "I still have a long list of places I want to see, and I can't do that if I'm lounging in a hammock on the balcony sipping a margarita." It's a hard life, but someone's got to do it...
