For 85 years now, a certain tall and southern drawled anthropomorphic dog has graced our screens as perhaps the most iconic Walt Disney character that isn't a mouse. We're talking of course about Goofy.

Goofy was rumoured to be one of Walt Disney's favourite ever characters, purposefully designed to be the "everyman" of the 1930s.

He's a bumbling, charming eccentric who is loyal as the day is long and whose instincts usually guide him to the right course of action, despite perhaps not being the smartest dog in the pound.

When you think of Goofy, you might recall his ah-hyuck laugh and his holler, but Goofy is actually a man of many talents and there's a lot to learn about him and his world.

When Goofy made his debut back in 1932 on Mickey's Revue, he wasn't quite the character we know and love today.

Back then he went by the name of Dippy Dawg and he didn't exactly look like how he does now. Dippy Dawg was depicted as being much older than peers, supporting a white beard that made him look elderly.

Despite his character going through many physical changes, one thing that has remained the same is that famous Goofy laugh. His memorable "hyuck" hasn't changed in 85 years.
