9. It Broke The Mould

Space Mountain was a first in many things.

It was the world's first entirely indoor roller coaster. Prior to its opening no other coaster had been built indoors and indeed, this is what took the ride so long to build because the idea for the attraction was so far ahead of its time, they had to wait for technology to catch up with it.

The ride was also the first to be completely controlled by computers. Most modern roller coasters are designed this way but in 1975 this had never been done before.
