Kinney has always been interested in a musical career, and her talents resulted in several EPs being produced under her own record label. She released The Blue Toothbrush in 2011, and Expired Love in 2013, before re-releasing the latter as a full album a year later. Her voice didn't go unnoticed by the Walking Dead producers who gave Kinney several musical roles on the show, including a short song using a piano while holed up with Daryl, and a soothing guitar song during Tyreese's death hallucinations.
