10 Things You Didn’t Know About The Pirates Of The Caribbean Ride
2. It Was Originally A Wax Museum
The original plan for the spot where Pirates of the Caribbean is would have originally been home to something much different, and far less likely to be so popular and the inspiration for a movie. That's because it was originally slated to be a wax museum.
The initial plan was to be a walk-through museum of infamous villains, a literal Rogues Gallery, but that was later changed to focus on just being a pirate museum, where guests would walk across taverns and galleons.
The project was put on hold due to the World's Fair, and then thanks to the success of animatronics and water-based conveyers in other attractions, such as Mr Lincoln and It's A Small World, it was changed to become the ride we know and love today.
