If you lose you tool bag in space then it isn't easy to get a replacement, as astronaut Heide Stefanyshyn-Piper found while doing a spacewalk in November 2008. Stefanysyn-Piper slipped and lost her grip on the two-and-a-half-stone bag, which floated away carrying £650,000 worth of tools - including grease guns, containers and a scraper tool. Amateur astronomers have claimed to have spotted it in the years since, and regularly check whereabouts it is in space.
