Lovecraft's Untold Stories
Weird Tales

We've all heard of towns like Salem, where witches were put on trial at the behest of the superstitious villagers for committing the sin of black magic. But what would happen if villages like this failed to die, if there were still communities in which the dark arts were still very much alive?

That is the question posed by The Dunwich Horror, in which the isolated little hamlet of Dunwich, Massachusetts is plagued by the demonic Whateley family and their suspicious dealings with unseen malevolent forces. After the birth of Wilbur Whateley sends many of the town's inhabitants into speculation about the nature of his birth, strange happenings begin to haunt the village in the small hours; disappearing cattle, haunting noises and a looming sense of a presence occupying the Whateley barn-house. As the boy matures at an all to rapid rate, so too do the unusual instances become more and more frequent.

As one of the more distinguished entries within the Necronomicon chronicle, The Dunwich Horror provides a beautifully uncanny atmosphere that delves into the realms of the more human unknown and asks us just who the evil may be lurking within...
