11 Things You Need To Know About Universal Orlando's Skull Island: Reign Of Kong

9. The Queue Area

Universal sets the bar for queue design, which is increasingly becoming part of the ride, and it looks like Reign Of Kong is similarly well designed. The ride starts as you set out to explore an island rife with prehistoric creatures alongside the 8th Wonder Expedition Company, a research team leading your adventure. As the expedition kicks off guests will approach under an archway modelled on Kong€™s massive head before heading through ruined temples and caves apparently haunted by €œhostile natives" with beating drums heralding a warning. According to the press release: you ignore warnings to turn back. Silly you. As you make your way through the queue area and through the expedition's base camp, the backstory of Skull Island: Reign of Kong's plays through an NBC news radio broadcast from the 1930s, complete with contextual musical interludes from the NBC Orchestra.
