12 Iconic Characters Utterly Ruined By Terrible Commercials

6. Ferris Bueller's Fall From Grace

It's tragic how far Matthew Broderick has fallen: he once exhumed a natural charm from the screen that was so strong there were probably real life viewers who tried to donate to the Save Ferris campaign. In this commercial that charm has all but vanished; he is a shell of his former self, and it appears that doing this commercial is actively hurting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtrBJ64vaxY Secondly though, we don€™t need to be reminded of cars with Ferris Bueller. It was during a promotional tour in Ireland for the film that Broderick got in a car accident and ended up killing a person in the other vehicle. The accident was his fault as he drifted over onto the wrong side of the road, and somehow he got shuffled out of the country without any major repercussions. The event was brutally tragic for all involved and quite frankly there is no less appropriate product for Ferris Bueller to be shilling than any sort of automobile. It€™s hard enough re-watching the movie knowing what would happen soon after the film wrapped, but when you combine Broderick€™s lack of enthusiasm, with the knowledge of the death, this commercial is a truly ghastly way to resurrect such a great character.
