A case could easily be made that Episode One already kind of ruined the character of Darth Vader by showing way too much of his human side. Therefore you can't blame this commercial for solely ruining Vader €“ but it can be viewed as a mighty indignity that helped transform him from badass to running joke. Showing Vader as a kid in Episode One was bad, but the prequels did the audience the favour of bypassing Vader€™s awkward transition into puberty where he found new lustful hormones. Target didn€™t feel the need to spare us from this sight though.
