There are a number of ways that you can stop dead family relatives or friends from rising from the grave as a vampire. The body would be buried face down so that when they tried to get out of their grave, they would become confused and dig down into the earth instead of finding their way up. It also apparently doesn't hurt to shove a few things in their mouths like pebbles, soil, garlic, some coins and then pour salt over the grave. Rocks should also be used to cover the entire grave or if you're feeling extra paranoid, you could make a cage for the grave out of iron so it would be really difficult for them to escape. Obviously also make sure you put a stake through their heart and remove the head from the body, just to be on the safe side. And consider burying them at a crossroads for more confusion. If you are bitten by a vampire it's also not an immediate undeath sentence, because there are ways to reverse the change. All you need to do is consume the ashes of the vampire that bit you or make bread with their blood and eat that, if you have trouble eating ashes.
