12 Things David Cameron Wants You To Forget

8. Cameron Supported The Downgrading Of Ecstasy From Class A To Class B... But Is Now Insistent On A Harsh Drugs Policy

Before Cameron was leader of the Conservative Party he was on the House of Commons Home Affairs Select Committee - and he supported a report which recommended a downgrading of Ecstasy from Class A to Class B. MDMA remains a Class-A drug, however, and Cameron now likes to present a "tough on drugs, tough on crime" front - so it is highly unlikely that he will come out with any bold statements that he intends to declassify Ecstasy during this campaign, that's for sure. What's more, Cameron has also been accused of creating recreational drugs during his formative years, something he has not denied. While on BBC's Question Time, when asked if he had used cannabis and cocaine, Cameron said everyone was allowed to "err and stray" in their past. Cameron would rather the public forgot this somewhat shaky history of drug use - particularly those possible Tory voters who are considering leaning towards the "tough-on-everything" United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP).
