14 Reasons Why Dumfries Is Scotland's Best Hole

8. The Ghosts Are Literary Geniuses

Whilst Dumfries is quite an old town with a lot of history, that doesn't mean that all of the ghosts who haunt the place are illiterate witches who were burned at the stake on the Whitesands all of those years ago. In case you've been living under a rock, Dumfries was the home of Robert Burns and he was a pretty big deal in the field of literature. You can visit his home where he resided in the town and if you so wish, you can dedicate a shrine to him in your living room. Although his ghost hasn't actually been spotted in Dumfries, it's nice to think that the ghost of someone who was such a big deal lives there.
