This thought will keep you going on the days where you have to eat boring porridge. Don't change your breakfast drastically on race day because you need to eat the foods that your body is used to. Eat bananas, protein bars and jelly babies, anything to give you that extra energy. You also shouldn't be drinking water an hour before your race because you'll find yourself needing the toilet, and then again before you've hit the third mile. But be sure to keep hydrated during the race.
