10. Strawberry Spring

Strawberry Spring is a horror masterclass, full to bursting with palpable tension, genius plot twists and a fantastically drawn unreliable narrator.

After a serial killer known as Springheel Jack is said to be back on the loose, the unnamed narrator begins to recall when the murderer was last around the area. Jack killed numerous university students and children during his initial reign of terror, and the narrator was there to witness the events play out. Jack later disappeared, and the case was unsolved.

But now he's back, opening a memory well for the narrator as he becomes increasingly worried about his role in the story.

Strawberry Spring is very creepy and visually unsettling, telling the story of a serial killer whilst forcing readers to question the person telling the tale and how he fits into it. It's whip-smart, melancholy and dark, and the twist ending is a guaranteed shudder-inducer.
