It's a pity that the best days of the year are so few. No matter what your favourite holiday is, it can never come soon enough, and the anticipation is killer. Unfortunately, there's always that strange phenomenon that takes effect once the awaited day draws near: time seems to grind to a near-halt. Suddenly, it feels as if it has been the same month for an eternity; even the seconds seem to tick by slower. Days and nights go by but, all the same no time has passed, and the special day feels no sooner. Rather, that glorious day is perpetually on the horizon, just beyond the grasp of your exasperated, impatient fingertips.

1. When You Arrive At The Cinema And Have To Sit Through Seemingly Endless Commercials Before The Film Actually Begins

There are few sensations more exciting than settling in a seat at the cinema, ready to be entertained. The lights dim, music starts to play, an image appears on screen and... it's a commercial. And then another commercial. And then three more. With each new advert, the films being advertised seem progressively more awful. Will people really watch a cartoon about an angry daffodil or a remake of a naff drama from the eighties? As the commercials drag on, the urge to scream, punch something and run becomes unbearable. All you can do is suck down your soda, savagely crush popcorn between your molars, and feel the final shreds of your psyche disintegrate. What everyday situations make you lose your mind?
