8. Demon Cat

There are a lot of significant issues to cover in Washington, D.C, but there's one that isn't receiving nearly the attention it deserves: the very real, obviously not made up case of the Demon Cat.

The Demon Cat is supposedly the ghost of a cat who haunts government buildings in D.C, especially appearing around presidential elections and national tragedies. It's supposed to look like your average, black house cat, but as soon as you see it, it instantly grows into the size of a tiger. Spooky, right? "The cat would then either explode or pounce at the witness, disappearing before it managed to catch its victim." Hang on, the cat would explode?

Then you get to "Explanation," and after getting into all these details of the legend, the author concludes by saying that Capitol Police at this time consisted of a bunch of unqualified drunks, so they probably got wasted, saw a normal cat, and remembered it being giant. Is that not the greatest ending to a Wikipedia article of all time?
