15 Reasons You Wish You Were From Yorkshire

1. Count Dracula Was One Of Us

Yorkshire can be creepy. Despite the glorious rural vistas and quaint fishing towns, when the clouds roll across the Moorland and meet with the North Sea mist those same picturesque places take on a ghostly, supernatural aura that send shivers down the spines of even the hardiest southerners. And none more so than Whitby, whose narrow wynds and antiquated abbey made it the perfect setting for one of literature's most famous characters, the mighty Dracula. Irish author Bram Stoker found inspiration for the novel while walking Whitby's streets after dark, a feat that not even the locals find appealing in the depths of winter. As such he turned Count Dracula into not only the most terrifying bloodsucker in the annals of literature (and later film), but also an honorary Yorkshireman. A statue complete with cape and fangs is surely forthcoming. Are you proud to be from Yorkshire? Share your love by Sharing this article and commenting below.
