15 Things You Won't Believe Have Been Banned Around The World
10. Time-Travel Is Banned In China
In 2011, a rash of Chinese television shows featuring protagonists travelling back in time to Ancient China prompted the government to ban time travel in movies and TV. According to China's State Administration (department) for radio, film, and television, time-traveling plots lacked positive meanings and were disrespectful to history. Venturing a guess, the time traveling TV shows were seeking to educate the public on what life was like in China before the Communists took over. A big no-no considering the many years the government took in attempting to annihilate traditional Chinese culture from their society by and large. The ban is so strict that Chinese wishing to celebrate their historical traditions must travel to other parts of the world to do so.
9. Hair Gel Is Banned In Iran
The ban was decided after a single viewing of MTV's reality show; Jersey Shore. Just kidding, the Iranian government just really hates what it deems to be "Western Culture Haircuts."
