15 Things You Won't Believe Have Been Banned Around The World
12. XXX Flicks Featuring A-Cup Stars Are Banned In Australia
The "land down under" in the past has been characterised as an adventurous landscape filled with deadly wonders. To Americans the typical Aussie is a free spirit, clad in khaki, who lives by the restaurant Outback Steakhouse's old motto, "No Rules, Just Right." Think again. Australia's political landscape has made a surprising amount of reforms beginning with a long list of things to be banned. A confused world watches as a country usually thought to be carefree seems determined to fast track itself to becoming the land of "Just Rules, No Rights." Certainly not the most significant ban made, but easily the most preposterous so far, was the government's 2005 decision to ban small-breasted women from appearing in adult films. When the controversial ban was announced, Aussie legislature stated they believed A-Cup boobs in porn flicks encouraged pedophilia. A balking public, which including several angry feminist activists, argued back with, "Oh really? Prove it." However, no proof was ever provided and small boobs on camera has been a serious offence since. The result of the ban is all younger-looking models aspiring to a career in adult entertainment - which will surely make their absent fathers proud - must first raise the money to undergo plastic surgery.
11. Comic Books Depicting Criminal Activities Are Banned In Canada
Comic book lovers beware if passing the Canadian border; what's inside those graphic novels can get you thrown in jail on some very serious charges. In Canada a nonsensically vague law was passed allowing the border to confiscate any material considered obscene. What do they consider obscene? Don't worry about it - they weren't inclined to give a definition. Where the law becomes truly bizarre is it charges anyone caught with printed material considered obscene, to be in possession of what they call a 'crime comic', it's almost as if the entire law were pointedly directed at the comic book industry in general as opposed to say... um.... porn. So if travelling to Canada this year be sure to leave those comic books behind and whatever you do don't say the forbidden word - 'manga' - to any Canadian police. They really don't like it.
