17 Body Parts You Didn't Know Had A Name
14. Hallux
So you've been calling it your "big toe" like a total peasant, when you could have been calling it something that sounds like some kind of ancient god?
You probably don't think about it until you smack it unexpectedly on some furniture, but your hallux is actually pretty important as it helps you ballance upright. Missing your big toe will disqualify you from serving in the armed forces, and this is part of the reason why the trend of shooting oneself in the foot to get out of conscription caught on.
13. Morton's Toe
Keeping with our theme of freaky feet, this is not something that everyone has, but you might.
Morton's Toe is a condition in which your second toe is longer than your hallux. Despite the mild health issues it causes, not to mention difficulty fitting shoes, this foot shape was actually considered to be a beauty ideal by the Ancient Greeks, and even the Statue of Liberty has one (pictured above).
