9. "Caught Red Handed"

What it means: When someone catches you in the middle of doing something wrong. Where it comes from: The red handed part of this phrase is literal, as in blood. If someone killed someone's livestock then they had to actually be caught in the act to be convicted. If they were caught selling fresh meat and everyone knows that they don't own any animals, it wasn't enough to get them convicted, they had to be caught with blood on their hands.
