18 Problems Only Claustrophobic People Will Understand

10. Cant Relax In Hotel Rooms

On holiday, a friend€™s wedding or that important work meeting; any of these situations will require your presence so you might end up staying in a hotel. But don€™t worry, you will have a key card for the door. So if the room ever starts feeling uncomfortable, or you start thinking that the shower cubicle door will get stuck; whatever causes you to freak out, rest assured that you have the option to open the door and run down the corridor screaming. But crap, you spot the windows are sealed so there goes any chance of a comfortable stay. Thanks to the health and safety culture and the intention of the hotel to stop people jumping to their deaths, most hotel windows don€™t open or only open two inches to vent air in. So lying in bed, your mind starts telling you that you don€™t have a means of escape. What if the door gets jammed and you can€™t open the window? Can you break it? Will you run out of air? Therefore, when booking a hotel room, a claustrophobic has to try and get a room on the ground floor or try and get a room where the windows open. At the very least, make sure you have the way out and fire escape routes mapped out in your head.
