18 Problems Only Claustrophobic People Will Understand

9. Tube Travel Must Be Avoided

There are many problems with using the underground system. To start with, the name €˜€™Underground€™€™ is enough to instil fear even before you buy a ticket. You also try to avoid rush hour if you possibly can, nothing induces a panic attack more than an over packed train. You count how many stations it is to your destination, you will have to keep count in your head. The train turns up but there are too many people in the carriages, so you check how many minutes until the next train and decide to wait. The second train rolls in and again, too many people, so you wait for the next. Finally you are on the train and you grab a seat. As the train thunders through the tunnel, you hope your carriage doesn't become packed with commuters at the next stop. If it does, you might have to get off and get on the next train. One stop away from where you get off and there is an influx of tourists. They all decide to get on and fill your carriage. Now you have a decision to make; do you get off and add extra time to your journey or grin and bear it for one more stop? Too late, the doors have closed and you are now trapped underground in a confined space with a load of strangers.
