18 Problems Only Claustrophobic People Will Understand

7. Overground Trains Are A Nightmare

If using the underground is full of problems, you would think the overground train is a viable alternative. You are outside in a brightly lit train and surrounded by massive windows; how can you possibly feel trapped in a tight space? Unfortunately it is possible and claustrophobia can make any pleasant train journey a trip through hell. If the train stops are infrequent, you have to try and forget that you can€™t open the doors and escape. The worst case scenario when travelling by train is the train stopping on the tracks. You don€™t know when it will move, but you do know that you have no control over your ability to escape. You wait and listen for the announcement by the train driver telling you why the train has stopped. Knowing why the train has stopped might make the wait slightly bearable; you might even be able to estimate how long the delay will be. The outside world taunts you; you can€™t get to it until someone opens the doors. As panic builds, you wish you could break the window and flee.
