18 Problems Only Claustrophobic People Will Understand

6. Cars Journeys From Hell

Even driving can be a nightmare for a claustrophobic. You would think that if there is a problem, you could pull over and get out. Most of the time that€™s true but there are times you have no option of escape. Driving through a tunnel and there is a traffic jam, the walls of the tunnel and brightly lit signs telling you not to leave your car can trigger a panic attack. Or on a motorway, you can€™t stop the car and go for a walk. You feel trapped, the lines of cars on either side feel like a prison. But if you are not driving and going on a road trip, you have to make sure you don€™t get stuck in the back of a two seater. Then you really are trapped because you can€™t get out without the consent of the person sitting in front.
