18 Problems Only Claustrophobic People Will Understand

13. Stay Away From The Deep End

Some claustrophobics never learn to swim. It€™s not that we can€™t, it€™s just that you might be doing really well but half way down the deep end, you suddenly think you have no control over your ability to swim and every time your head goes under water, you start believing that you're suffocating. You might be swimming near the edge and only have to grab the side of the pool to climb out, but being paralysed with fear means you can't think rationally or sensibly. And the fear of suffocating is so strong that some can€™t even get into the water. So unless you overcome that fear, you can forget about swimming with dolphins, scuba diving or visiting the Great Barrier Reef. Those experiences will never be things you can tick off your bucket list. The most your water adventure will consist off is getting your knees wet in the shallow end.
