20 Celebs You Won't Believe Turned 40 This Year

6. Nelly

The year was 2000. Radio stations all over the world were being taken over by a new sound of rap music, with catchy, sing-songy hooks and with a different way of speaking that nobody outside of St. Louis, Missouri had ever heard before. Instead of "everywhere", you'd say "err'wurr". Right there? Nope. Right thurr. Nelly took the world of music by storm, selling over 8 million copies of his debut album in the United States alone, and having smash hit after smash hit. As we slowly approach the 15th anniversary of the release date of that debut album, Country Grammar, Nelly continues to make music, as well as appear on television, albeit with a much smaller level of success, but that has been afforded to him after becoming the fourth best-selling rap artist in American music history. Even after all that time, he looks exactly the same as he always has. Sure, gone are the oversized sports jerseys that were in-style in 2000, as well as the trademark band-aid he would wear on his cheek as a way to let one of his incarcerated childhood friends know he was always on his mind, but as far as everything else is concerned, it might as well still be 2000 when you look at the man born Cornell Haynes Jr.
