Presley asked to meet the President in order to personally deliver a hand-written letter in which he asked to become a federal agent in order to fight for the US in the so-called "War on Drugs". After meeting Presley, Nixon was convinced of the singer's sincerity and "The King" received his badge from the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs later that day.
