23 Problems Only People With Celiac Disease Will Understand

11. When You Find Out Gluten Is In Some Lipsticks/ Shampoos/ Toothpastes

Will this Hell ever end? It's hard enough choosing which toiletry brands you want, never mind being plagued with the fact it might unsuspectingly gluten you in the shower. As for glutinous make-up? Absolute abomination. There's plenty of materials that can be used to get the same result so we don't have to worry about accidentally ingesting lipbalm.

10. The Fury Of People Who Eat Gluten Free As A Health Fad

Let's get this straight - eating gluten free is not gonna make you slim. There's no fattening ingredient in gluten of which dropping will instantly make you drop a jeans size: it's simply a protein found in wheat, barley, rye and their by-products. So those going gluten free because they've read a misinformed health article in a magazine, or seen Kim Kardashian bragging about the benefits... Just. Stop. Why? "Gluten Free" is becoming less and less associated with Celiac Disease. Which means, for those of us who would like to safely eat out without cross-contamination, there's more chance that GF dishes are treated as a lifestyle choice rather than a safety measure, which can compromise the preparation of food.... and we all know what just one crumb can do to our insides. The good thing about these non-Celiac gluten warriors is the prominence of GF goods. The gluten free market had a 44% growth from 2011 to 2013, due to the diet being perceived as healthier, and hopefully because of growth in Celiac awareness.

9. When People Bring Pastries Into Work

The moment your heart sinks, as you receive an email informing the team of pastries in the kitchen. Doughnuts, biscuits, cake, cake, cake... and none for you, ha ha! Stay calm and have a Crunchie. At your desk. Alone.
