6. Floods

Morpeth loves to flood. On September 6, 2008, Peth suffered its worst flood since 1963 when defences were breached after a month's rainfall fell in 12 hours. An estimated 1,000 homes were affected and it took far too long for the town to return to normal. Just under four years later the floods returned with a vengeance, although not as severely as 2008.
