Ten years into the new millennium, amongst other things, the world found itself in the midst of a global financial crisis, nine years into what has become known as the war on terrorism, and embroiled in the controversy of the WikiLeaks scandal.
Fifteen years in, there's still quite a lot of negativity in the press. The Ebola virus still has some of West Africa in its clutches, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant are committing barbaric acts in their war against the West, and passenger aircraft seem to be going missing every time you look at the news.
It's not all doom and gloom, however - not by a long shot. The 2010s have seen some brilliant sporting events, some wonderful strides in science, technology and medicine, the world of entertainment has seen fantastic new additions, Osama bin Laden - the face of post-millennium terrorism - was taken out by U.S. forces and, even in the midst of the terrible things that have happened, the decent people of the world have banded together in heart-warming shows of solidarity.
