26. Dan Carter Retires A Hero
The 8th Rugby World Cup saw England host the competition alone for the first time. Somewhat inevitably (given the romance of the sport) New Zealand came out victors to cement their place as the dominant force in world rugby, becoming the first team to successfully retain their crown, as well as the first ever team to win the competition 3 times. Dan Carter retired after the final, in which he picked up the Man Of The Match award.
