Survivor is the second novel to be released by Palahniuk and one that was going to follow in the footsteps of Fight Club and Choke to be adapted into a movie, but due to the time of its release and its subject matter, it has yet to get past the development stage at the moment and loiters in limbo at the moment. The novel is set up slightly different to a usual text and the pages start at 289, at chapter 47 and then works its way down to chapter 1 and page 1. The reason for this is because the story follows Tender Branson, a member of the Creedish Church, telling his life story into the black box of high-jacked aeroplane, and this means that his life is being told in reverse and all the events are building up to the moment that the plane crashes. It deals with the idea of celebrity and what this means to our modern society, and what goes on within cultures that behind closed doors don't like to share with the outside world. For those interested in seeing how a suicide hotline can change a person's outlook on the world should really pick this book up.
