6 Hauntingly Memorable Final Social Media Updates Of The Deceased

2. Reeva Steenkamp

On Valentine€™s Day, 2013, this South African model was tragically shot and killed by her boyfriend of three months, Olympic sprint runner Oscar Pistorius. The case was and still is making international headlines, as Pistorius was not only renowned for being an elite sprinter, but somewhat of a controversial yet inspiring figure. Due to the fact that he was born with a congenital absence of the femur, both legs were amputated below the knee when he was 11-months old. When he began competing, he wore a form of prosthetic that consisted of J-shaped carbon fiber fittings which earned him the nickname €œBlade Runner€. The murder occurred during the morning hours and the Olympian claims that he mistook his lover for an intruder. Pistorius was found guilty of culpable homicide which carried a maximum sentence of five years, which caused quite a bit a bit of outrage among those who felt he deserved a much stiffer punishment. Reeve Steenkamp posted to Twitter for the final time just hours before her death with a message that would take on a chilling connotation: €œWhat do you have up your sleeve for your love tomorrow??? #getexcited #ValentinesDay€
