7 Horribly Toxic Things In The Ocean That Are Scarier Than Sharks

2. Sea Snakes

While there are many, many, types of horrible snakes on land it should almost be expected at this point that you€™d find an even more venomous one in the ocean. So anyways, some of the world€™s most (possibly the most) venomous snakes are sea snakes. Sea Snake may actually be a bit of a misnomer as they also spend some part of their life on land, and they don€™t have gills like fish. So how do they breathe under water? Well, what makes some of them even more scary/cool (depending on what you€™re in to) is that they can breathe through their skin. This allows them to stay under water for long periods of time, stalking their prey (or you). There are many different species of sea snakes, although they are all pretty damn venomous. Bite symptoms include paralysis, breakdown of muscle tissue and cardiac arrest. Thankfully most sea snakes only bite when aggravated, so the chances of being bit are fairly slim €“ although be careful if you have the bad luck to run into one while it€™s on land, as this is where most bites occur. There is actually some anti-venom for these guys though, but still €“ you probably don€™t want to get all touchy feely with one.
