Generally speaking, asking if somebody got up on the wrong side of the bed is a good way to get coffee thrown at your face. You could always just keep those kinds of questions to yourself in the knowledge that you might be onto something. In a survey of 1,000 UK adults, it was found that those who dragged themselves out of the left-hand side of the bed were more likely to be in a better mood than those who got out on the right. They were also found to be better at their jobs and even have more friends than their right-sided counterparts - probably because they are less likely to throw coffee at people making smart comments about their morning moods. The margins for the study were pretty tiny, between 4 and 10 percent, but it does give you a good excuse for growling at people when they try to talk to you in the mornings.
